An extensive extended cruise around the Land Down Under is being halted following the death of an senior woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a isolated tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the excursion for a pause. The liner departed without her and went back several hours later after the ship staff became aware the passenger was not present.

An extensive rescue mission discovered her remains the next day.

Officials are investigating the event, in coordination with police and the medical examiner.

The CEO of the cruise operator stated that guests and staff on the Coral Adventurer were told that the rest of the cruise had been terminated due to the "sad loss and prior engine troubles".

Via official communication, he further stated that passengers would be given a full refund, and said the company was working "to organize the homeward trips of the passengers via private aircraft".

Officials also released an updated communication, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Master" banning any new passengers from entering the vessel.

The representative said that they would attend the vessel in Cairns upon its arrival.

The ship originally sailed from the coastal city on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the point of the senior passenger's demise. The remote island was the first stop on the journey.

Guests on the vessel - who usually pay large sums of currency to join the voyage - were transported there for a daily excursion with the possibility of walking or snorkeling.

Family Statement

The child of the victim said that her loved ones was "surprised and saddened that the liner left the location after an scheduled excursion without my mother".

Through her comments, she described her parent as an "energetic elderly person" who was a participant of a walking group.

"According to scant information we have been provided, it appears that there was a breakdown of responsibility and common sense," she said.

She further stated that she desired the examination would be able to determine what "the company should have done that might have protected Her existence".
