"People in the office has been making comments that the series is done for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"Our expectation had been that we would have something to play for by the time we arrived."

Yet now they are staring down the barrel of extending their winless run in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the next match starts in Melbourne this week.

Ben Stokes' side - and their fans - will be keen to prevent a clean sweep.

It was mentioned that the "excitement and fun" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in recent times had "reinvigorated" the longest format for England fans.

Yet the fans said they had low expectations for the final two games - and all they are asking for from the players is "a bit of fight".

Regardless of the result, the siblings are still excited about the trip.

"It will be a wonderful trip nonetheless," added another sibling. "We must adopt that outlook."

"Obviously it is disappointing we don't have more to play for, but we have invested a significant amount as it is."

"We'll enjoy celebrating the holidays out there. Additionally, it's mine and Rory's first time traveling at this time of year."

An educator, Katie is determined to make the most of the lengthy journey as part of her seasonal break.

"As a backup plan, I can play golf to turn to," she finished.
